Manifest.ini & .int

Post by ^_^Bozzy^_^ »

with most of the maps, mods etc. i download i get a manifest.ini and manifest.int do i really need these? cause i keep changing them to manifest1 manifest2 etc. to not delete the old one. do i really need manifest fiels or not? if not should i do anything other than just naming them manifest1 manifest2 etc. cause things seem to work fine like this so its making me question if i need them atall.

an answer to this would be greatly appreciated.

I will reply to that, NO Manifest .ini is not needed unless you host a server, All it does is add the mod to your serverpackages and editpackages. Which can also be done manually.

The Manifest files are included to be added into your existing Manifest file. These files are used to keep track of mods installed. It allows you to easily uninstall mods by using UT's uninstaller. Simply copy the text of the Manifest file and paste it at the bottom of your current one.

Manifest.ini is automatically updated when you install a umod.

True but it also happens to screw up your ability to run umods from time to time.

If that happens, then the UMOD was packaged incorrectly.

Can be, I believe the last Umod I managed to run was "Thievery UT" After that it went bad and now it thinks every last UMOD I run is Thievery UT.

i cant use umods i have to extract the files using umodbrowser and all my mods work by changing the name to things such as manifest90.ini so that works or they just arent needed its one or the other but i think i dont need them cause changing the name would stop it working cause it wouldnt be able find the directory set for it.

so my logic leads me to believe they are unneeded
