Setting Up UT2004 Server

Hi guys,

I'm looking at setting up a UT2004 server in addition to the existing UT3 server I'm currently running.
I've heard its a lot easier setting up a dedicated UT2004 server compared to UT3 but am having some difficulty knowing where to start. There are a lot of guides and notes already out there on the big wide web, but I have no idea if any of its been kept up to date! On the off chance any of you guys have recently been in the same position I am hoping one of you delightful chaps would be able to assist in some way? Once its up and running you are very welcome to join me for some gibbing!

Linux or Windows?

Its hosted on windows at the moment, but I eventually will move it over to a headless linux server instead. At the moment I am just trying to get my head around the server config, installing maps/mods etc.

Well I can't be of much help with Windows setups, but if it was Linux then Daniel Gibbs makes one hell of a custom script that will do everything you need as far as getting the server up and running.

I have been working on setting up an Unreal Tournament 2004 Server on one of my windows 2008 servers, it's not as simple as they make it since it's pretty outdated and info on it is kinda hard to locate. I did have it running, but am unsure how to get things properly started, do you use runserver.bat or other command line to start it? I had it running the other night, but now when I try to connect it just tells me connecting and to press F10 to cancel. I doesn't show in my list either, it did the other night. I have tried restarting it and it shows for a couple of seconds but disappears right away on the server list. Love the game plus the original I'd host a UT99 server too but gotta get this one running first. How would I get it to populate the main servers list? There was supposed to be a way to get a dedicated server cd key but that seems to be broken too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

One thing I remember is that it is extremely rare to see your OWN server show up in the UT server list online. (if even at all)
For UT99 anyway.
Mine never showed either.
Only other people out on the net could see it.
