Monsters Fighting Amongest themselves

Post by Sir Mandrake »

Hello again!

Whats the best way to deal with the Fighting between monsters? I joined my server this morning to find a Holy Fragfest going on between every monster in the zone. This was on the trade center map. Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

Their is a mutator or two floating around that prevents this, but I believe they are mostly private. I can't recall any public ones that prevent this.

Thanks for the replies...

Taking the WTC map for example... there are many versions of it, however when you play these different versions they look pretty much the same. is it possible that I got a version of WTC that doesnt have the scripting included to prevent in-fighting with the monsters? It looks to me like its a behavior thats controlled within the map by the map author. Some of the maps I have exhibit this infighting behavior and some dont I notice. If this is the case, I need to replace that WTC map with a more current version as it is too chaotic and lags the client.

By default, some monsters attack other monsters. Mappers can prevent this, using scripts but most do not. I'm not familiar with the map you are talking about, so I don't know what the differences are between them. I'd suggest trying out each version individually to see if they all exhibit the same behavior.

Well mainly because I would like the monsters to focus on me and give me a challenge. Many times ive come in and stand in a room with the monsters fighting among themselves and I'm only getting hurt by splash damage. With the problem fixed, and you step in a room....all eyes are on you with your death on thier little minds. :)

The fighting issue has been nicely resolved by Gopostal's new Monsterhunt2 Mod.
