Prefered goal of TeamMonsterHunt

Post by PinkyFan »

Hello,

regarding to TeamMonsterHunt, what is the prefered goal, when does a team win the match?
Is it when
a) a team kills a certain amount of monsters first
b) a team gets most points after a fixed play time

Is there a way to override the server setting of maximum play time? Most servers are set to 90 or 60 minutes. In case of goal b) I would like to change a map so that for this map the time is set to 20 minutes or so, is that possible?

im no expert here kinda the opposite but i believe each map can be different some can be whichever team kills all the monsters first whichever one has the most kills when all are dead... whichever team has the most kills when somebody reaches the end. etc. i BELIEVE that it depends on the map so it can vary. but ur better off asking mappers. they know im just a player.

Whichever team gets the most amount of kills when the round has finished, no kill limits, no time limits.
At least, that's from what I've heard.

When a match has ended because a team reached the MonsterEnd trigger who is the winner, the first end reaching team or the team with the most points?

TeamMonsterHunt adds the "winner/loser" attribute to the game, but you can win on two ways at the same time, either by reaching the MonsterEnd first or with most points after map ends.

This is confusing because the one team reaches first the MonsterEnd but the other team has the most points in this moment. So which team is the winner then? And TeamMonsterHunt only makes sense if there is a winner team.

About TMH...

This is something I've discussed with gopostal too. Just want to hear opinions from you guys.

The thing is, sometimes TMH gets too friendly. I mean, TMH is competition, is Red vs Blue. That means that if I'm on red, and I see your blue face, I'll kill you in order to kill a monster by myself and get a frag point for my team.

Yes, if I kill you I lose a point, but I could win 100 points for killing a titan, instead of you killing it.

I believe TMH should be played fighting both the monsters and the other team; maybe 2 members of the team could try fighting the other team and the rest kill the monsters without worrying about their frags being stealed.

Once I asked Skillz about this and he said that yes, killing the other team is part of the game and nobody should complain about that. However, if you do that, many ppl from the other team complain saying that this is a "team" game, that this is not DM, and many other things that only prove they don't know how to play TMH.

Anyway, what do you think??

I think TMH should be TMH, with the mapper deciding what to interprit the "team" as.

Many people think that the team part is reflected in the same way as TDM, or in other words, team A is in direct opposition to team B.
On the other hand, the TMH map I'm creating at the moment leaves it as more of a "co-op with teams", or in other words, team A has to help team B do an objective, and visa versa. You can't actually complete the maps (on either side) unless the two teams "co-operate" with each other.

Giving a definition to something that can be interprited many different waymeans that it narrows down what can be done, which is ultimately bad.

Yes, maybe the map you're creating needs the two teams cooperation. But that doesn't mean all TMH maps need teams cooperation :nono:

All TMH maps I've played on PMH can be completed by one team only; team A doesn't have to help team B with nothing. It's only kill as many monsters as you can and get the most frags you can; that's all.

I coudn't disagree more (respectfully) Ninja. If you muddy the waters over what is expected of teams in a gametype, it's going to lead to a lot of unneeded conflict. I want to know going in that it's ok to kill an opposing teammember because thats allowed. I think thats one aspect of TMH that hurts it badly: It's too friendly. There should be a major bonus for fragging an opposing player. Reiyel and I laughed about that the other day. Often you can't tell a game is TMH because the opposing team members are taking turns on the lifts and sharing pickups :nono: . If it is a team v. team game lets play it that way.
