TMH-Stargates crashes my UT

Hello,

when I try to play the map TMH-Stargates on PMH server #1 then my UT crashes immediately.
Because this board does not allow pictures, I will add a link to the screenshot I made about this error later when I have found a public image provider.

Part of the error text so far is:
General protection fault!
History: NormalTexture <- (TMH-Stargates.SFlak_t1) <- etc...

Thanks for the hint with the logfile and the ImageShack web page :)

Ok I even can't play the map locally and get the same error. I added now the error as image in the first message of this thread, and this is UnrealTournament.log:

Try downloading the map off the web site here, then over write all the files associated with it.

I haven't tried the map in question, but i've seen this problem before with big textures loaded into MyLevel wrongly, ATI users will crash if the texture isn't imported correct, with big textures you need to check the mipmap box when importing it to MyLevel (or any other package for that matter). Are you using an ATI card?

And how big is the texture in question? (pixels)

Dane I'm curious, how big is "too big"? Is there a number you start to get nervous at as you map?

OK I looked at the SFlak textures Blizz, and they are the problem. They were imported incorrectly and look messy even in the editor on my system:

I consider textures the size 512x512 and above to be big and they need mipmaps to be compatible with all. but personaly I never go above 512x512 in size as it will produce extremely large filesizes, you will easily end up with a map of 10+ megs. Remember that the unreal engine deals with a max resolution of 256x256, if the texture is bigger the engine will use it but resize it to 256x256 before pasting. But you will gain quality by letting the engine do the resizing compared to if you use a standard paint program to resize the image from e.g. 512x512 to 256x256.

Please think about the players when creating maps, don't use too big textures when you use so many as i can see on that sshot, is the map 10+ megs in size allready? Too much IMHO.
