Post Team Monsterhunt - Bunnytrack Combination?!
Well, hello there.
I am to lazy to write a to long description about the following, so I try to make it short.

I know Monster Hunt self now about a time period of a half year or so. Team Monster Hunt however since 2 or 3 days?! I downloaded those Contest Testmaps and watched them in the editor and noticed at some places, it is anywise like Bunnytrack - splittet into two teams - their own fights well in BT against the obstacles here against the monsters. I thought then.. about that mixing this two aspects together.
Ok, honestly, I always wanted to make a BT map, technical it is not that problem, from the mappings side, but I am to sutpid to play real BT (I can not even master this side dodge thing at the beginning of the most courses), so thats the reason why I came up with this idea.
I did not understand everything of TMH so far, but anywise it would be interesting with this mixing up.
(ok Alex from unrealplayground said a few minutes ago an idea like that would alreay exist). But nevertheless, what do you think about that?

team MONSTER HUNT ..... FIRST PERSON SHOOTER .......

you will cut off 75% of the players by adding this (*censored) jumping *beep* to a map in a first person shooter game. I believe you should design levels for super mario brothers instead? those levels also has bad monsters hidden away in them.

ok, one can always do as he does with all the *beep* mh maps .... disconnect ... find another server to shoot monsters on.

It's really up to the mapper to put BT parts in the TMH maps. If the person making the maps wants it, then it can easily be added. If not, then don't add them.

Ok, good to know. But of course it would not be like that I would spam a map full with BT elements, maybe only some small jumping areas and "shoot the switch" obstacles, the BT in the name could give players the information "not 100 % MH, expect no bot support". It is only the question if players expect bot support for a MH map, I have no idea. Otherwise I will drop that idea and would prefer to start mapping a normal MH.

I'd say take that silly platforming mod away from UT for good, but I'd upsetting a lot of people with that comment. I honetly don't think the MH and BT communitites are too popular with one another anyway, but I'm not trying to detour you or anything from having a shot to try it :P

Simple solution, when it comes time to vote, don't vote for a bt map if you don't like it.

Put in a portal gun.

Problem solved. I can skip it while you bunnyhop your ass off.

portalgun, translocator are nice tools/weapons but should not be used for monster hunt or bt

Bunnytrack can teach you a LOT about player movement/control which in turn will make you a better player in other games such as deathmatch, capture the flag, etc...

Also "bunny track" type areas in a TMH map or MH map can make the game seem more realistic, and I'm not talking about the floating platforms.

Take Andromeda for example. Not the BT section/area where you unlock the weapons, but the area where there is a pit and it looks like the stairs/walk way broke. That's a prime example of how BT can be added into a map and make it seem more realistic. There are other ways this can be achieved as well.

I've seen some VERY impressive BT maps where the level looked so realistic, it had you jumping on things like you was in a real room, trapped and just trying to jump on tables, window seals, light fixtures, etc.. to "escape" from the area and get to the flag. I wish I remembered the name of the map, it was very impressive.

I'm with you, but MH is more like the dessert, where DM, CTF and the like are the main courses. Oftentimes people get into MH because it is fun, fast, and pretty straightforward. Maps like Androm where the BT is not bad and built into the theme is cool, but most any time you vote a Godz map the people almost immediately break into two teams. The BT'ers and the guys just wanting to kill monsters.

I may be in the minority here but having a bunch of BT stuff to accomplish ruins an MH map for me. Partly because I SUCK at it, but partly because it doesn't need to be in there. If I want to do BT stuff, I'll go to a nice BT server and hop around like a crack-addled kangaroo.

The only way to get better at something is to do it.
