Is anyone interested in a server side version of this mod that has the constant voice spamming disabled? I like the mod and all but the "monster kill" and holy shit" get uber annoying. I was thinking of leaving the text declaration on the hud for each, but nulling the announcer until maybe like 50 in a row He'll say something really cool like "Hunter!" just once or something. As it is the announcer is just too spammy and it ruins the mod.

If anyone wants this, let me know. I could use some voice talent too if anyone wants to be the voice of the announcer for this mod version. You'll need clean audio input and a good voice, I'll do the announcer-izing of your raw voice myself (echo, reverb etc). Maybe we want to go sexy girl here? Might be a nice change of testosterone pace. There are actually I think about 6 or 7 announcements that will need to be made, I'll have to check. I'd like to keep it simple and quick, but a little shot of MonsterHunt themed English would be a nice touch.

Anyhow if there is any interest, I could whip this up.

I would be very interested in this if you can do one thing.

Put the regular MH announcer in there instead.

I really enjoy the regular announcer.

Hearing that you have become Godlike is a wonderful feeling.

The regular announcer is not spammy or annoying , it is just right.
It is used in MH Excal and the BIGI MH mod -
Witch is the main reason why i have used them on my servers.

Other then that the mod is spectacular and error free i believe.


A good revamp of the mod would remove the strange text in the middle of the screen as well.

If i were to add anything to the mod i would maybe add a client side boost control on/off.
And a configurable random weapon award instead of being forced to receive Deemer only.
You could use some of the code from Worm or StuffSwapper.

I'll do that. I think I'll change the final Japanese saying you get after like 40 kills to something else small and simple but English like "Hunter". There was a discussion before about this. Someone (Flatus?) had a *great* final announcement. I'll find it.

When you mention the text on screen are you talking about when you get killing sprees or are you talking about when the game does it's damage amp award and lights up those random sayings in center screen (like: Killing time!). Or both?

Random weapon award is already in the mod. You have that as an option to award you one when you start the map or respawn. Adding a timed call back to that woudn't be hard at all. About the only thing I see there is that if you wanted to add a non-standard weapon to the awards (like portal gun for instance) it would have to be bundled into the mod.

Guys I need a little bit of help. I've updated the UTJMH mod and fixed a bunch of the annoyances that irritated me the most. Here's a quick changelog:

All of the japanese announcements are removed (with the exception of the teamkiller one. I'm looking for the Llama anouncement to replace that one). The normal UT anouncements have been placed in but they have been refigured a bit. double kill to monsterkill are normal, then it goes to ludicrous kill (from 2003) for kill #6 in a row. After this the mod goes silent until you get to kill 20 and it awards you (just one) Holy Shit, then goes silent again until you begin a fresh spree. There are still messages sent to chat that you are on a roll though, so people can see you are owning the server, but the spammy anouncer crap is gone.

When it awards the deemer, health, and amp you'll get a quick HUD message saying "Random whatever coming", then three seconds later it's awarded and a message tells who got it. The countdown is all gone (why a countdown anyway?).

I tweaked the radar to fit the monsters a little tighter, changed the marker to a + symbol and removed the monsters name. This makes it much easier to follow and doesn't clutter the screen so much. Now you can have a lot of monsters and it doesn't look so much like alphabet soup.

On the admin side I made the ini setup a lot easier to understand. Who the hell knew what kakuTime was anyway? It's much clearer now and you can see what the settings are for.

Now, if you bothered to read this far, I would like a couple of people to give this a thorough testing. It's not quite done but I'd like to see how it performs offline on other rigs. I don't want this used online yet as I don't plan on changing the package name for the final revision and if it leaks out it will cause version mismatches. I see no reason this can't be finished in a day or two anyway. All I forsee having to do is add in the Llama sound and repackage the sound file.

If you do want to beta, it would be great if you would post me a copy of your ut.log (sanitized if it makes you feel better, though I diligently delete any I look at as soon as I am done. Ccleaner has an NSA level shredder that is kick ass) so I can see any errors generated by the mod.

There are not but a few maps. It's mostly just to see the mods and for me to see if you can break them :)

To change boost settings in-game type in console:
mutate boost
mutate noboost

Please feel free to try out anything, but don't uncache the mods just yet. If all is well, some final tweaking is all that is needed and I will set up a full download with readme's. Thanks!

REX I was running a simple ded server out of my house to test the netcode. I didn't want to use the PMH servers as a try-it forum so I just ran my own. I posted all four mods to the downloads section. If you want, I'll send you the source to alter them however you'd like.

I'm not quite done with the UTJ mod either. One of the members here is making a MH themed group of announcements to replace the double kill-multi kill ones. I have a couple more tweaks I want to add to it also. The one posted works fine and it makes a great vanilla mod that most anyone can server-personalize with little trouble (hence the external sound file) but I want to go a bit further and make one that fits PMH.
